Kyle Choy is building new platforms that expand access to opportunities where people can prove and realize their full potential. He most recently worked in strategy and operations at MeritFirst, an 8VC-backed talent assessment company, where he led strategic projects, managed partnerships, and designed systems to evaluate ability beyond credentials.
He is a junior at the University of Austin and a member of its founding class, studying mathematics, economics, and AI. His work is guided by the belief that the systems allocating talent and capital too often reward credentials over demonstrated ability.
In high school, Kyle wrote his senior thesis on why new universities are needed to renew American higher education. The following year, he became a founding student at UATX.
Kyle is currently developing new ventures in the talent space, focused on how people are discovered, evaluated, and matched with the work where they can perform at the highest level.
He also conducts value investing research, writes on credit strategy, and is completing coursework in mathematics, economics, and AI at the University of Austin.
Kyle started young: at eight, he launched his first business, an online bakery called Kyle’s Kitchen. In high school, he founded a credit card consulting company advising clients on rewards optimization and credit building, and earned the rank of Eagle Scout during his sophomore year.
Professionally, he has worked in strategy and operations at MeritFirst, an 8VC-backed talent assessment company, and previously held roles with The Alpha Fund, Chapter One, and ESW Capital across venture analysis, fund operations, and acquisition strategy.
He joined the University of Austin as a member of its founding class, choosing to help build a new institution rather than follow a traditional academic path.
